What to see in Leeds

The city is also the setting for Europe’s 2nd largest West-Indian festival. Leeds carnival sees over 100,000 people flock to the streets of Chapletown and Harehill for a host of attractions including traditional Caribbean food markets and a roadside procession. Leeds has also been the home to infamous summer V-Festival, a music extravaganza in which the world most popular bands put on shows for thousands of travelling fans.

Home to over 400,000 residents, Leeds is equipped with a vibrant nightlife. Whether it is live music, techno beats or hardcore drum and base, the city opens it arms to all, with a wide collection of unique. There are also hundreds of bars, clubs and restaurants, which line the streets ready to accommodate those who are simply looking for a drink or bite to eat.

Sport in Leeds

Like many industrial heartlands, professional sport in the region is rife. Leeds plays host to some of the most successful sporting teams in English history. Elland Road is the venue for football, where Leeds United play their trade in the 3rd tier of English football. Although a hugely successful outfit in the 70’s, the club are probably most famous, for their recent financial decline at the hands of chairman Peter Risdale. Just inside the city gates is Headlingley, the home to Yorkshire and England cricket for over 100 years. The notorious stadium has been the setting for some of the most memorable moments in both club and international cricket. The city also has top-flight rugby teams in both forms of the game, the Rhinos representing league with Carnegie batting for Union.
